A few years ago Paul was persuaded by a friend to volunteer to be painted/drawn by a group of 'Core Arts' members who had mental health problems. It took place in Hackney and a previous person to have sat for the session was comedian Mark Thomas. Sean Hughes followed after Paul. Paul was impressed with the outcome, he said the sitting had a relaxed atmosphere with incredible energy - "I was amazed by the level of enthusiasm, the variety of characters and the range of work that was produced at the end of the day. I particularly liked the more sparse portraits, and I got a real buzz when I saw that one of mine had been turned into a stamp. The whole thing was a great idea".
